Tan Guoyu, a 2015 alumnus of the School of Advanced Materials at Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School and founder of Beijing Diji Technology Co., Ltd., has been named to theHurun China Under35s 2025, a list recognizing 187 young entrepreneurs aged 35 or under across China.
Tan earned his bachelor’s degree from Peking University’s School of Physics (2010–2015) and his master’s degree from the School of Advanced Materials at Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (2015–2018). During his studies, he participated in national, provincial, and municipal research programs, including the National Materials Genome Project, the National Power Battery Fund, and the Shenzhen Science and Technology Research Fund, and published as first author in international academic journals. He has disclosed four invention patents and one utility model patent and has received dozens of national and international digital innovation awards.
His eight years of research exposed him repeatedly to a persistent problem: data processing and visualization remained an invisible burden for researchers without programming backgrounds. Traditional tools were either too specialized or too cumbersome—a contradiction he encountered in laboratory after laboratory. In 2017, while still a graduate student, he founded Diji Technology; in 2019, he and teammates from Peking University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and ETH Zurich formally established the company. Focused on AI for Science, Diji Technology is building a no-code AI visualization platform for scientific research, aimed at empowering researchers and building digital research infrastructure.
The platform provides end-to-end support spanning data acquisition, analysis, and the presentation of academic results. Researchers without programming experience can simply upload data and quickly obtain visualized results. Through sustained in-house R&D, Diji Technology has developed a research ecosystem integrating a large-scale, high-quality scientific database with data analysis and visualization tools, offering comprehensive research solutions to universities, departments, and research institutions. To date, the company has served more than 100 universities and 1,000 research groups in China and abroad, and has received investment from HongShan (formerly Sequoia China).
Published by the Hurun Research Institute, the world’s largest compiler of entrepreneur rankings, theHurun China Under35s 2025 is the third edition of the list. The 187 honorees’ companies have an average value of RMB 4.2 billion, with one-third already publicly listed and 11 reaching unicorn status. The ranking is closely watched by capital markets and the startup ecosystem as a key indicator of China’s young entrepreneurial landscape.
