Opening ceremony
The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Lei Ting, Associate Dean of SMSE, and featured an opening performance by master's student Lin Yijun. Li Ming, Party Secretary of SMSE, addressed the audience, noting that the frontier of science often begins with a simple question and advances through the sustained efforts of successive generations. He encouraged young scholars to pair curiosity with rigor—to pursue their own research deeply while considering how their findings might change the world.
In the plenary session, Wang Zhonglin, Director of the Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems, Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave a keynote lecture on original science and technology originating from contact electrification, and Prof. Xia Dingguo of SMSE presented on local structure and anionic redox in amorphous Li-V-O-F.

A Career Development Dialogue for young scholars was moderated by Zhang Jing, Deputy Party Secretary of SMSE. Dr. He Guangli, Chief Hydrogen Energy Expert at CHN Energy; Zhu Liangting, Senior HR Business Partner (HRBP) at CATL Research Institute; Shawn Zhu, Senior Director of the Process R&D Center at ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT); and Chen Si'an, Head of the Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) Department at DP Technology, shared industry perspectives on hydrogen technology, talent needs in power battery materials, career pathways in semiconductor memory, and AI for Science. A roundtable discussion followed, focusing on the growth and value co-creation of young talent in deep-tech sectors.

Career Development Dialogue and roundtable discussion
On September 23–24, seven parallel sub-forums were held, spanning rechargeable batteries, electrolytes and novel battery systems, advanced carbon materials, novel structural and functional materials and AI for Materials, electrocatalysis and fuel cells, optoelectronic materials and devices, and biomedical and health materials. Invited talks were given by outstanding young scholars from Peking University, Tsinghua University, the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and leading research institutes, while doctoral students presented their research in oral reports and engaged in discussions on scientific questions and research methods.

Sub-forum presentations
The closing ceremony was moderated by Zhang Jing. Assistant Professor Hai Xiao introduced the new journalNational Materials, and Zheng Dan of the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) gave a special report on academic misconduct and the standardized writing and copyright protection of dissertations. The forum awarded 15 Outstanding Presentation Awards and 25 Outstanding Poster Awards. In her closing remarks, Zhang Jing thanked the experts, students, and organizing staff, and encouraged young scholars to address frontiers of materials science and major national needs through interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaboration.
